A Garment A Week - Week 38 - Raglan sleeve Tshirt with silky chiffon front and back - stitchremedy.com

Ahh finally I get time on my computer! Such a busy weekend.  Start of the school holidays and I ended up with a mass of kids 🙂
I’ve been looking at second hand shops for costume fabric and old belts lately and I’ve also found quite a few pieces of really nice fabric (really cheap too) and I love it when it matches another fabric I already have!
The print on my raglan sleeve Tshirt is a thin silky poly, it falls like chiffon but it’s opaque 🙂 A really nice sheen to the flowers too. It was only a small piece of fabric but for 40 cents, I knew I could make it into something.
It matched perfectly with the rosey knit fabric I had in my stash.

The pattern is adapted from my long sleeve raglan Tshirt. I added a bit of width thinking with the print being non-stretch it would need it but I now think it’s a little too wide, but it’ll be nice and loose for summer.
The neckline is a band of knit, overlocked and then top stitched on the print fabric only.

The hem is just overlocked and turned up, it needs a coverseam for the knit, I should have maybe shortened the knit down the side and added a bit of the print? then I could have just rolled the hem. The sleeve edges are also overlocked and turned up, in a navy colour thread too, I’m running out of colours and I have no rosey red. I also should have cut the knit panels on the side in one piece rather than in backs and fronts, they do have a little shaping on the sides but it really doesn’t need it. Lessons for next time🙂

Loads of costume work still happening, Jonny’s one has been renamed the ‘100 hour project’ lol, it’s taking ages but it’s hopefully going to be worth it! Costume updates on my Instagram account (@stitchremedy) and I’ll share finished images on here when they’re done 🙂
