A Garment A Week – Week 52 – 30/12/16
I’ve been taking as many hours at work as I can while the kids are away and during this last week in Dec, I managed to sew this up but was also sewing more bunzies for Lily and swimming ones with a mesh skirt over the top and getting the kids ready to travel to their dads.
Here is the last garment for my 2016 challenge.
A stretch knit dress with cross over front bodice.
The bodice is fully lined / bagged out before overlocking onto the maroon band and the skirt, created from 6 panels is overlocked on as well.
A bit of gathering on the front shoulder and the back neck is V shaped but cut in one panel. Both front and bakc necklines have the clear stretchy mobilon tape in the seams to help hold the shape but still allow stretch.
Super comfy and really easy to wear, definitely could dress up or down.
I’d made the pattern way back at the beginning of the year so it was nice to get it made in the end.
If I make another I think I’d drop the armhole slightly, its a bit high and maybe pattern the skirt as a faux wrap?
I also need to adjust the tension on my overlocker as the threads are a bit visible and not holding the seams tightly together.
I made it! 52 garments in one year (+ a few extras too!)
Keep a watch for my challenge round up post coming soon and my – Where to from here – ponderings 🙂 xx
