A Garment A Week – Week 9 Bonus – Grey Denim Bomber Jacket

And I’ve finished the grey denim bomber jacket!
I managed to get some black ribbing from a fabric store in Tauranga, just over an hours drive. I really wish we had a dress fabric store here in Putaruru!
The denim has a bit of stretch (same fabric as Lily’s shorts) so it is really comfortable to wear. It’s fully lined with an acetate lining, which is cut a little larger than the denim to allow for a bit of stretch in the denim without ripping the lining. Ribbing on the neck, cuffs and band. I could have made the band a little tighter and I cut the cuffs from the pattern I made for the blue denim 3/4 sleeve jacket and I should have cut them a bit longer/wider, but they still look ok.
Definitely love the pockets in this one, I notice not having them on the blue one. Creating the pattern for these pockets was a challenge for me with the princess seams, luckily I had a brain wave thanks to creating the blue dress back in week three 🙂 So the pockets run under the front/front side seam right up to the zip.
Here’s a look at the internal structure of the pockets.
Only thing I think still needs work is maybe the shoulder width across the back, it’s a bit wide. I need a mannequin! It’s hard to see your back properly when fitting yourself lol but it works ok for the jacket as it really should be a bit boxy. I’ve already had great wear from this jacket! I love it ♥
