A Garment A Week – Week 24 – 17/06/16

So slack getting this post up on the blog, sorry.

Unfortunately I’ve spent half the week immobile with a migraine 🙁
So it was an easy design, easy make this week.
Thankfully I’m a lot better today.
The outer fabric is a marled t-shirt thickness knit and the lining (skirt and bodice) is a slinky rib knit.

The pattern is a mash-up of the raglan t-shirt from week 19 and the blush coloured dress from I think week 6.
I lengthened the waist from the dress pattern so it sits better on my waist and just needed to widened the bodice slightly to help with the blouson effect. And the lining of the bodice is cut 2cm shorter to help keep the effect too. I have also taken the skirt in at the sides a bit as the knit looks better straighter rather than a-lined.

I dropped the seam at the front neckline of the raglan sleeve about 5mm, I think it looks a little better.
The neckline is a band of the same fabric pulled a little as I stitched it to create the shape. I was going to face it all with the lining but I didn’t want to line the sleeves and they go up to the neckline.
There is elastic in a casing made from the waist seam and a small belt to cover it up 🙂
I think the lining of the skirt will need to be shortened just a little. When I sit down it just appears from under the hem. The lining does work brilliantly being silky knit it stops the outer sticking to my stockings.
Super comfortable, I may need more of this style in the knit fabric!
Here’s to a headache free week, next week! xx
