I have another jacket underway but with sick kids this week I haven’t had the time to get work done on it.
So a pleased Lily has another new top 🙂 Something that was a lot quicker to put together. An hour or so making a pattern and an hour or so at the machines. I probably could have sewn faster but I was watching the new season of The Great British Sewing Bee at the same time lol. ‪#‎teamjade‬ ‪#‎gbsb‬

This is a design I thought would work better than it did lol.
The front is only made from 2 pieces. The lower part of the pattern is cut on an angle with a bit of extra length to allow for the gathers.
The neckline is finished with a piece of the fabric used like a t-shirt ribbing neckline. And both the front sides are stitched together (4 layers) at the centre front to create a faux wrap look. But it all holds together like a t-shirt. The lower front pieces overlap but aren’t stitched together at the hem.

The back is cut in one full panel and I drafted the sleeve to fit. I think I needed to just round off the shoulders a little more.  They sit a little too wide.  But not too bad for a pattern drafted with Lily at school.
The fabric is a slightly thicker knit fabric, I thought better for winter but I think it was slightly too thick for this design.  Maybe come summertime I’ll try the pattern again with a lighter fabric.
The hem and sleeves are overlocked and turned under. Two rows of stitching for the faux coverseam look.
Miss is happy with it, she wore it all yesterday afternoon and it already needs a wash thanks to meatballs for dinner!
